As Mother Eve around here I’ve introduced my kids to some great movie classics. There’s quite a need for wholesome movies today with the all-too-often PG-13 movie requiring me to say, “oops, that’s inappropriate, turn that off.” So, I’ve decided to list some of our favorites. These have been tested on my kids, with thumbs up — from them — even as teenagers.

“The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer is a 1947 black and white movie with Cary Grant and Myrna Loy — and Shirley Temple as a young 16-year old. It’s a comedy/romance and one my favorites. They call them “screwball comedies.” I guess that helps define my sense of humor.

It was shot on location at :
Beverly Hills High School – 241 Moreno Drive, Beverly Hills, California, USA and Long Beach Airport – 4101 E. Donald Douglas Drive, Long Beach, California, USA

This is a scene — one of my favorites when Carey Grant decides to act like a teen-aged boy, because young Shirley Temple has a crush on him and he has to take her out …to the high school basketball game…long story.

“You remind me of the man.”

“What man?”

“The man with the power.”

“What power?”

“The power of hoodoo.”

“Hoodoo?”

“You do.”

“Do what?”

“Remind me of the man.”

“What man …?”
