You know I’m a rebel homeschooling mom. My last student took a class in documentary film making in 2011. Yea, I outsourced this one to a nearby school. With a couple of other high school students he produced a documentary about the pros and cons of raw milk. One of the boys in the group drinks only raw milk.
Raw Dairy Milk — Cow milk, that is. It’s not legal to sell it here in California. You can buy raw goat milk here or raw sheep milk, but it’s against the law to buy raw cow milk in California. All states have different laws.
This family owns part of a cow. That’s how they get around the law. If you own a cow, I guess you can milk it and drink it. But they don’t keep the cow on their property, it stays up in the hills with some cow keepers.
Take a look:
I’m not sure. Pasteurization seems a safer bet. I have a healthy respect for microbes. But I also understand that pasteurization kills the good stuff too. Maybe it’s better to drink soy milk or almond milk. But if you grew up with cow — it it’s often your preference. I know that’s what I prefer on my cereal. I do like the idea of owning a cow, at least you know if it’s healthy and being taken care of. Those commercial dairies look and smell over-populated.
