I got up at 4 a.m. to see the blood moon — the total lunar eclipse. I missed the one in April 2014. I’ve read some articles that say there will be four blood moons that fall on Jewish Festival days during the years of 2014 and 2015. Actually, this blood moon, at approximately 4:25 AM (PST) on October 8, 2014, was not on Sukkot from where I live. It preceeded Sukkot by about 12 hrs. Because, Sukkot or the Feast of Tabernacles begins at sundown on October 8 of 2014, here in California.  But news sites are talking about this blood moon falling on Sukkot, and depending on where you are geographically, this can be accurate.

And whether you can see that eclipse depends on where you are standing. I kind of wondered, what if I were in Jerusalem — would I see this? “One might think that Jerusalem would be a key site, but the first three total lunar eclipses in 2014–2015 won’t be visible from there, and only the beginning of the final eclipse will be.” (Dr. Danny Faulkner)

Hagee is making a big deal about these blood moons, saying  that there are four in a row and that they fall on Passover and Sukkot in 2014 and 2015. He believes this is a sign that bad things will happen for Israel based on history. I don’t know about that.

I do believe in signs in the heavens, but I am not sure about this one, especially since this eclipse is a little before the start of Sukkot.

The scriptures that people point to are found in the Bible:

…He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; (Rev 6:12)

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. (Acts 2:20)

“I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire and columns of smoke. 31″The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood Before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. (Joel 2:31)

The lunar eclipse is called a blood moon because of the copper-red hue the moon has as a result of the sunsets and sunrises from the Earth that reflects back onto the lunar surface. The earth becomes sandwiched between the sun and the moon:

The blood moon appeared as it descended into southern Pisces. I’m not sure what that means, but it is interesting that Pisces forms a compass of sorts:

Well, whatever it means, I got up and took some photos with my camera. But, I was thinking, I have seen a blood red moon when the atmosphere has a lot of smoke in it, or pollution. Maybe when the moon turns to blood, it will be due to the catastrophic events on the earth that cause greater pollutions in the air and then the moon looks blood red.
