I had to do some research about these blood moons because some people believe they are signs of the times. But you can’t believe everything you read on the Internet or hear in the news. I don’t like to be one of those doomsday predictors either. And the hoopla started with a couple of preachers. (Pastor Hagee wrote a book.)

But I read Isaiah and study the scriptures and ancient texts and I’m trying to prepare and be prepared for whatever and wherever my journey in this life takes me. If there’s going to be chaos I want to be out of California that’s for sure. (some small town sounds better.) Of course, I would appreciate a Father Lehi to tell me he had a dream/vision so I could leave ahead of the trouble. I don’t know about that tent living though.

At any rate, I’m fascinated with the cosmos and signs in the heavens. I got up in the middle of the night to see and photograph the blood moon in the Fall of 2014. (That’s the one I took above.) I missed the first one in the spring of 2014. Darn.

What are blood moons and a blood moon tetrad?

I found some of the best and most reliable information about the blood moon tetrads from NASA. I’ve included their video that explains lunar eclipses and the tetrad for 2014- 2015.

Blood Moon Tetrads and Israel

These aren’t the only blood moon tetrads. However, these four tetrads in 2014 and 2015 fall on Jewish festival days — Passover and Sukkot:

  • Passover April 15, 2014
  • Sukkot   October 8, 2014
  • Passover April 4, 2015
  • Sukkot September 28, 2015

Some people see a correlation between blood moon tetrads and happenings in Israel — either before the blood moon or after it.  NASA has all the information on lunar eclipses through the years. Now we need a little research to see if the tetrads indicated some Isareli happenstance and if they occurred on the holidays. Although I can find the eclipse dates, I have not checked them against passover and Sukkot dates any further than 2014 and 2015.

According to NASA — From 1901 to 2000 there have been 5 Tetrads:

                              1. Tetrad: 1909 - 1910
                              2. Tetrad: 1927 - 1928
                              3. Tetrad: 1949 - 1950
                              4. Tetrad: 1967 - 1968
                              5. Tetrad: 1985 - 1986

From 2001 to 2100:

                              1. Tetrad: 2003 - 2004
                              2. Tetrad: 2014 - 2015
                              3. Tetrad: 2032 - 2033
                              4. Tetrad: 2043 - 2044
                              5. Tetrad: 2050 - 2051
                              6. Tetrad: 2061 - 2062
                              7. Tetrad: 2072 - 2073
                              8. Tetrad: 2090 - 2091

Pastor Hagee has written a book explaining that in the last 2000 years, eight of the tetrads have fallen consecutively on the two Jewish holidays — Passover and Sukkot. And that something happened to the Jewish people during those times.

For example,

According to this news source, the other tetrads did not fall on Jewish holidays  between the years 1909-1910, 1927-1928 and 1985-1986.

As I was researching about these blood moons, I came across a documentary film that will be released in theaters on March 23, 2015. The film is based on Hagee’s book and happens to be directed by a Kieth Merrill (who I recently met – he lives in my neck of the woods and is a Mormon who won an Academy award for his documentary, The Great American Cowboy.) Glad to see that an Evangelical and a Mormon came together to produce a film. It’s all very interesting. Especially with the 2015 news – Jews making an exodus from France because of anti-Semitism and deaths.

Total Lunar Eclipse April 4, 2015

***I have found one reference that does not support a blood moon tetrad on Passover for the year 796 AD. Passover is noted as April 12 796 AD in one source I found, and the Blood moon, according to NASA was on March 28 796 AD.  Almost every Internet site about blood moons and tetrads claim that there was a blood moon tetrad on passover of 796 AD. So we need to find the passover date in another reliable source for this to be true. The one I found was a dissertation for Harvard Divinity.
